Europe dominates the global luxury market.
Collectively, European brands account for over 70%
of the global luxury goods market.

The output of the sector in 2013 is estimated to be over
€547 billion, approximately 4% of European GDP.

The sector employs approximately 1,100,000 workers directly,
and at least a further 600,000 workers indirectly.

Total exports for the sector are approximately €308 billion
in 2013, representing over 17% of all exports from Europe.

The sector has recorded 28% growth between 2010 and 2013.

Medium term forecasts suggest the sector will continue to grow

at between 7% and 9% per year.

The sector will contribute between €790 and €930 billion
to the European economy in 2020, and will employ between
1.8 and 2.2 million people directly.

The work of ECCIA falls into
three main areas of activity

  • Protection of Intellectual
    Property Rights and Governance
    of the Internet
  • Market Access & Tourism
  • Highlighting the role of the
    Cultural and Creative Industries
